Women's Soccer in Marin since 1994

Welcome to our 2020 26th  Season ! MWSL exists to enable women to play soccer in an environment of camaraderie, team spirit, and good sportingship. We value good soccer and a love of the game. MWSL strives to facilitate recreational soccer with an emphasis on fair play and balanced competitiveness. We are based in Marin County and welcome players 18+ from the greater Bay Area. Our 18 and up Open division plays on either Monday or Thursday evenings and our Over 35 division plays on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Join us for one or both divisions!

August Soccer Returns to MWSL

Greetings MWSL Players!

As we continue to monitor and adhere to updates from Marin County, MWSL is planning next steps to offer small sided games for players who would like to participate. Based on the results of our recent survey we will be offering three options for the month of August.

OPTION #1

PIPER PARK, Larkspur (turf field)

Tuesdays 6:30pm - August 4, 11, 18 and 25

5v5 format on half field

$10 per game, Registration and Prepaid Only - NO DROP INS

OPTION #2

STREET SOCCER, San Rafael

Wednesdays 7pm - August 5, 12, 19 and 26

5v5 format on single court

$10 per game, Registration and Prepaid Only - NO DROP INS

OPTION #3

PIPER PARK, Larkspur (turf field)

Thursdays 6:30pm - August 6, 13, 20 and 27

5v5 format on half field

$10 per game, Registration and Prepaid Only - NO DROP INS

 

NEW PROTOCOLS FOR PLAY 

In response to the coronavirus, we have instituted the following new measures to keep our players safe. Please note these may evolve as we learn more from public health officials about guidelines for recreational activities.

  • Face mask must be worn at all times, including during the game
  • Contactless temperature check upon arrival taken by designated Field Monitor
  • Use of MWSL provided hand sanitizer upon arrival
  • Weekly Attendance sheet signed confirming no symptoms or known exposure
  • No drop ins or substitution of players to allow for attendance monitoring and contact tracing should it be needed 
  • All players must Preregister, Prepay and sign a new Waiver
  • MWSL will provide balls and cones that will be sanitized at each event by the Field Monitor.
  • In lieu of throw ins, we will take Kick Ins to minimize ball handling

The Sign Up Genius will have more information about registering as an individual or as a team of five pending counts and balancing efforts. If all goes well in August, MWSL hopes to continue events into the fall following Marin County guidelines.

The State of California requires all businesses to: 

  1.  Perform a detailed risk assessment and implement a site-specific protection plan (SPP) 

  2.  Train employees on how to limit the spread of COVID-19, including how to screen themselves for symptoms and stay home if they have them 

  3. Implement individual control measures and screenings 

  4. Implement disinfecting protocols 

  5. Implement physical distancing guidelines

Types of protective equipment provided to employees at this outdoor activity location in:

  • Digital Thermometer

  • Hand sanitizer 

  • Sanitizing Wipes

  • One use masks as needed

Signage will be placed at each activity site.

Inform all participants of the following:

  • Avoid entering or using the facility if you have COVID-19 symptoms;

  • Maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another;

  • Sneeze and cough into a cloth or tissue or, if not available, into one’s elbow;

  • Wear face coverings, as appropriate; and

  • Do not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact

Control and screening measures that will be implemented at the outdoor recreational activity site: 

  • No large groups (maximum of 12 participants) 

  • No congregating before or after activity 

  • Consistent cohorts (no mixing of players with other teams) 

  • Attendance to be taken prior to each activity 

  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available for all participants

  • No handshakes or high fives before, during, or after activity

  • COVID waiver will be filled out by all participants, EVERY time.  

  • Participants must wear face coverings to screening and while walking around.

  • Face coverings must be worn at all times, including during the game.

  • Screening measures to be taken before each activity: 

    • 1. Temperatures will be taken and recorded

    • 2. Participants will be required to answer the following questions: (Participants will only be allowed to participate if responses to all questions are NO) 

  1. Have you been in close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19? (Y/N) 

  2. In the last 24 hours, have you had any of the following symptoms? 

    1. Fever or chills 

    2. Cough 

    3. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 

    4. Fatigue 

    5. Muscle or body aches 

    6. New loss of taste or smell 

    7. Sore throat 

    8. Congestion or runny nose

* close contact refers to family members, extended social pod, or colleague at work place.

  • Response plan if a participant tests positive for Covid-19 by MWSL Board:

    • If a participant tests positive for Covid-19, she must notify designated COVID-19 point of contact and will no longer be allowed to participate in any events until treated 

    • COVID-19 point of contact will notify participants that they have been exposed to COVID-19.  Exposed participants will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. 

Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocol:

  • Any shared equipment (i.e soccer balls and/or cones) will be disinfected immediately after activity

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided by monitor and will be easily available to all participants

Additional measures that have been taken at this business location

  • Designated COVID-19 point of contact/ Monitor will be responsible for screening participants, communicating potential exposure during activity, supplying sanitization items, etc.

  • Monitor will be trained before activity commences by MWSL member.

 

Description of the layout of your worksite and how we accomplish physical distancing measures:

  • Participants must maintain 6 ft from each other when putting on gear, taking off gear and during breaks and must wear facial coverings.  Family members excepted.

  • Equipment balls and cones will be sanitized after each activity.

 Outdoor Recreational Activity Best Practices from Marin Recovers Website:

  • Ensure all Personnel and clients comply with the Social Distancing Requirements detailed in the Shelter in Place Order.

  • Conduct all business and transactions involving members of the public in outdoor spaces in accordance with the requirements for Outdoor Businesses detailed in the Shelter in Place Order.

  • Monitor shall screen all participants for symptoms before beginning any outdoor activity. The individual conducting the screening will avoid close contact with participants. Both screener and participant will wear face coverings during screening and throughout the remainder of activity as required by the Health Officer Order for Face Coverings.

  • With permission from the local jurisdictions, Outdoor Recreation Activity Business may hold /activities outdoors in clearly designated and marked locations. 

  • MWSL will track names and contact information for all activities and sign in sheet will be completed at each activity to enable potential tracking of transmission.

  • Groups must be limited to a maximum of 12 individuals per group, excluding any instructors or other Personnel. Up to 4 Personnel may be present.  Youth under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Participants will be encouraged to provide their own equipment to the greatest extent possible. Any rental or business-provided equipment will be sanitized after each use and follow Industry-Specific Guidance of the Health Officer for Recreational Equipment Rental Businesses.

  • Equipment issued to a client will only be used by that client. Equipment will not be shared during a rental or activity.

  • Clients will provide their own transportation to and from the activity site.

  • No congregating will be permitted before or after activity.

  • Clients will provide their own water bottles, sunscreen and personal food.

  • MWSL will designate spots for each participant, and throughout activity Monitor will remind participants to stay in their marked area.

Spring Registration: Open thru Mar 28th

UPDATE 4.4.20 SPRING SEASON IS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19.

Spring Registration Dates:
Spring Registration opens on February  5th. Spring Registration closes on March 28th.   We are still accepting new players and will assign them to teams at our draft to balance numbers and skills on each team.

Fees:
$85 / 10 games

Games in April and May will be 30 minute halves due to sunset. Games in June for Spring Season will be 45 minute halves.
New players also purchase a set of jerseys or tank tops (one-time purchase).  Existing players must purchase a new jersey if they have lost it. We offer Financial Aid.

Spring Season Games:
Spring Season begins the week of Monday, April 13th and ends Thursday, July 2nd.  We have two "flex" weeks scheduled in that season to allow for rescheduling rainouts and avoiding double games in a week where possible. (Flex weeks= Memorial Day week and the last week of the spring season) For more info about Spring Season see Season Info.

Register for both Spring and Summer Seasons together!
When Spring Registration opens you can register for Spring Season and Summer Season at the same time if you plan to play both seasons.

Summer Registration:Open until June 28th

UPDATE 5.21.20 SUMMER SEASON IS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19.

Summer Registration Dates:
Summer Registration opens at the same time as Spring Registration on February 5th.  Summer Registration closes on June 28th.  Players who register for Summer Season after that will be placed on the waitlist.

Fees:
$85 / 10 games 

45 minute halves until September at which time we may have to shorten back to 30 or 35 minute halves due to sunset. 

**College students please email vicepresident@mwsl.net for questions about season length and when you need to head back to school. We can adjust fees accordingly.

Summer Season Games:
